K-Jags hear about how "My Little Sister Ate One Hare"
I apparently saw a lot of K-Jags today.....I Heart Them!
What an amazing week it's been! Jackson is successfully off and running.
This year will we have a non-official theme of ONE JACKSON. Although we are two campuses, we are ONE JACKSON!
Information about our new AP will be coming on Monday....!! She has been named and is excited to start her journey at Jackson!
CELEBRATIONS THIS WEEK:
Dr. C visits Jackson Primary. On Thursday, our Superintendent Dr. Meria Carstarphen came by to check out the renovation at Jackson Primary. While there, she had the opportunity to see some AMAZING teaching and learning taking place. Ms. Sparks' class was in the media center and Dr. C stopped in for a quick story. We are very fortunate in APS to have such a hands-on and engaged superintendent. A special thank you goes to Ms. Web our Primary Media Specialist and Ms. Sparks who adjusted their schedules to show Dr. C Jackson's love of literacy!
Around our Building. I loved reading to the Kinder classes at Primary today. Thanks to Ms. Alteri, Ms. Larson, Ms. Renn, Ms. Shields and Ms. Cleary (2nd) for hosting. I learned over 100 names today!!
The front offices of both campuses have been amazing! They have basically kept the schools running by registering students, helping me with reports, Dr. C’s visit, sick kids, late kids and early dismissals. It is NON-STOP in the front office - Thank you Ms. Huber, Ms. Moyer, Ms. Kirson and Ms. Jones.
Ms. Renn started her classroom twitter account: @rennWTJkinder Follow her!
I've visited some classrooms this week and here is a sneak peek at what I saw: Ms. Pete was knocking it out of the park in a Social Studies lesson where she was using her new board, Ms. Carter had her students engaged in math application problems, and Ms. Stevenson was getting to know her students as they shared their “All About Me Bags”. I even got to share my “All About Me” bag with them.
A BIG Thank You to all teachers who have been setting the tone and teaching our little ones the rules and routines of Jackson. The first few weeks are critical in setting expectations for the year! Our teachers have worked to set these expectation during arrival and dismissal, in the hallways, at lunch and in the classrooms! Please thank them for such a smooth start! I can’t possibly recognize everything everyone does daily, so thank a teacher for all of the wonderful things that they do that I haven't seen......YET!
It’s going to be a FANTASTIC year at Jackson - ONE JACKSON!
1. We have been informed by the APS Transportation Department that we can no longer accommodate non-bus rider transportation changes. Only students who are assigned to a specific route may ride the assigned buses. We can accommodate bus stop changes, however we cannot add additional student to a bus route. If an emergency arises that requires a bus change, permission must be obtained through the office.
2. Car Pool (Pick-up and Drop-off) - Here are a few tips to help carpool
Students should be ready to exit the car when you pull up. Unbuckle while in line, say goodbyes, and get all of your items ready to depart.
Parents - Stay in your car. Exiting the car slows the process down.
Make sure the students are ready to exit from the right side of the car.
Once students exit the car safely, please pull away. Avoid watching your child walk into the school door. Our teachers are there to help
DO NOT PASS - IT'S NOT SAFE
Do not pass buses that are unloading, it’s not safe and it’s not legal (even on school grounds)!
Pay attention - little ones may dart out – avoid using the phone.
MAIN – All carpool morning drop offs are to the side of the building. The front of the building is for bus drop-off.
MAIN – Morning carpool runs until 7:55 after that time students will need to be dropped off in the FRONT of the building.
Be courteous - We are all working towards the same goal of getting students in their learning environments as quickly and safely as possible. If something happens to slow the process down, we work to resolve it as fast as possible. Please be patient, we are working as quickly as possible while still keeping our children safe.
Wish the teachers in carpool a good morning...carpool is a difficult duty and a friendly smile and a "good morning" goes a long way!
For Afternoon Pick-up - Have your tag visible so that we can call your child's name.
Main Campus' afternoon carpool has only been 10 or so minutes. Thanks for everyone's cooperation....pick up Main BEFORE Primary – it’s quicker!!
